Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been trading?
JC Leisure was established in 1997 and moved to our present premises in Winchelsea in 2001.  Dave and Eileen Waller and Alan Lawrence have many years experience in both the conversion and sales of motorhomes.

If I like one of your motorhomes, how long would I have to wait before I take it home?
Depending on your circumstances we would usually ask you to return the following week, while we carry out MOT test, Habitation Service and Mechanical Check.  All our motorhomes are given a final valet before collection.  If you are in a hurry, please ask as we may be able to have the motorhome ready sooner.

Can you take my car in part-exchange?
Whist we specialise in motorhomes and do not sell cars ourselves, we have many contacts in the local motor trade.  We would then endeavour to find the best trade price possible for your part exchange and that is the price we would offer you.  Of course we will always give you the best price for your motorhome or caravan.

What if I owe money on it to a Finance Company?
We can settle the finance and the balance, if there is any, can be used as part or all of the deposit on your next motorhome.  If you owe more than the value of the vehicle you will need to make up the deficit.

Are you able to arrange finance on motorhomes?
Yes we are licenced credit brokers.   Black Horse finance offer finance for any period up to ten years on a motorhome as long as the motorhome is no older than 17 years old at the end of the finance period.  If you are looking at an older camper, we may be able to organise finance with an alternative lender.  Please give us a call for details.  We offer competitive rates, please use our finance calculator or email us for a quote.

How much am I likely to pay for insurance on a motorhome?
The insurance industry proclaims that motorhome insurance in the UK is one of the most inexpensive forms of motor insurance for a number of reasons.  Most UK based recreational vehicles ie motorhomes are owned and driven by very experienced careful drivers and many are only used for a few weeks and weekends. Also while we are on holiday we do not tend to be in a hurry or drive particularly fast!

I am new to motorcaravanning.  What should I look for?
We are always happy to give advice but why not take a look at some useful FAQs on www.ukmotorhomes.net

Some of your motorhomes seem very cheap compared to others I have seen on the ‘net.  Is there a catch?
We are a small family run business and our aim is to sell good quality used campers below £20,000.  Our overheads are probably lower than some of the larger operations and we try to pass this on to the customer.

What does the warranty on the motorhome cover?

Our warranty is administered by Motorhome Care Specialists, Auto Protect and is designed to help with the bills which arise when a mechanical fault requires expert repair. It will pay towards the cost of repair or replacement (parts labour and VAT) should any covered component fail.  The motorhome specific warranty covers internal equipment including Cooker, Fridge, Water System, Electrics, Cassette Toilet, Heating System, as well as mechanical breakdown.  Please read your policy for terms and conditions.

Can I extend the warranty?
We include 12 months cover free of charge with every motorhome, but this can be extended to 24 months at a competitive rate.

I don’t think I could handle a large motorhome.  Are there any smaller models for one or two people?
We specialise in small campervans and usually have a few models in stock at any one time.  Our own Daihatsu Hijetta and Renault Kangoo Roo have been very popular over the past ten years.  We keep details of customers requiring similar vehicles so if you are interested in a micro-camper, please let us know as these are very often sold before even hitting the website.

How often do you update the website?
The website is usually updated two or three times a week.  Stock does change daily, so if you are coming some distance to view a particular motorcaravan, please ring first to check availability.  We take up to eight photos of each van.  You can print off a data sheet of any camper that you are interested in direct from the website.

I am a long way from you, can I reserve a motorhome I have seen on the website?
Yes, please ring us first if you are coming some distance.  Thanks to the internet we sell to customers all over the country.  We will require a £500 deposit which can be paid by credit/debit card over the telephone.  If you then view the motorhome within 24 hours and feel it is not for you we will reimburse your deposit.

Whereabouts are you?
We are located on the A259 between Rye and Hastings, next door to the Bridge Inn Public House.

Do you deliver?
We are able to deliver under certain circumstances.  Please ask Alan or Dave for further details and a quote.

I have a motorhome for sale.  Would you be interested in buying it?
We are always looking to buy well maintained motorhomes of any age.  We also offer a popular ‘Sale or Return’ scheme where we may be able to obtain a better return for you.  Please contact us details.

Do you hire out motorhomes?
No, although we run a buy-back scheme which is popular with overseas customers who are on an extended tour of the UK and Europe.  Please contact us for details.
